EIMA: the Innovation Factory

EIMA International is the International Exposition of Machinery for Agriculture and Gardening, a biennial event created in 1969 by FederUnacoma, the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation, and organized by the federation’s service division, FederUnacoma Surl, in collaboration with BolognaFiere.

The format of the review provides for fourteen merchandise sectors joined by specialized salons, EIMA Components, EIMA Green, EIMA Energy, EIMA Idrotech and EIMA Digital, for the direct participation of manufacturing industries from around the world presenting avant-garde technologies in the sector at the global level.

The organization rationale of the merchandise exhibits provides an enormous stage – reserved for professional business visitors on the first two days of the review – for the general public of enthusiasts able to immediately focus on their sectors of interest for better organizing their visits. EIMA is indeed the venue for the arrival of business people from eighty countries.

EIMA is held in Bologna Trade Fair quarters on an exhibition area of 375,000 m², 140,000 m² net. Each edition hosts some 1,500 companies from fifty countries exhibiting more than 60,000 models of machinery and equipment for all types of agricultural operations or green work for every model of enterprise.

Presentation

The EIMA Agricultural Machinery Exhibition is one of the most prestigious industry events in the world. The exhibition involves the entire fairgrounds and reached a record 327,000 visitors from 150 countries in the last edition, making it the reference event for agricultural entrepreneurs, business operators, agro-mechanical technicians, as well as representatives of institutions, industry researchers, and information workers. There are 1,700 participating industries, including 600 foreign ones, with a total of more than 60,000 models of machinery, equipment, and components.

But even before the numbers, which guarantee total product coverage and an extraordinary range, the strength of the exhibition is the quality of the technologies. Manufacturers are present with new products, international previews, and models displayed in the Technical Innovation Contest, which rewards technological solutions capable of significantly improving the productivity and sustainability of agricultural work.

Over the years, the exhibition has been able to strengthen its character as a specialized event aimed at professional operators, with a strict product division, a system of services to support business relations, and initiatives reserved for foreign economic operators in collaboration with ITA (Italian Trade Agency) of a large structure dedicated to business-to-business meetings.

There are currently 14 merchandise sectors into which the exhibition is divided, dedicated to all the main product categories, from tractors to soil working, from crop protection to harvesting, forestry, and livestock management. In addition, there are 5 thematic showcases: Component, Digital, Energy, Green, and Idrotech.

Outdoor demonstration trials, such as the one dedicated to machines for bioenergy supply chains at EIMA Energy, the one focused on equipment for gardening at Garden E-motion, and the new EIMA REAL (Robotics and electronics for agriculture live) focused on robotics and digital systems, as well as attractive events such as the Tractor of the Year finalist tractor show, make EIMA 2024 an amazing event.

The Bologna show, moreover, is characterized as a cultural and political event as well, with the Desk area’s service initiatives, the Campus section dedicated to universities, research, and training, and a program of more than 150 meetings and conferences on technical and economic-political issues crucial for agriculture, the environment, and social progress.
