Energy is vital for the development, economic growth and well-being of mankind. It is one of the major drivers of any growing economy like India and is an essential building block of economic development. Availability, affordability and security of supply of energy besides the creation of adequate infrastructure to serve everyone in the country are the challenges for India for sustainable growth.

The growing concern of climate change – rise in global temperature and emissions from the energy sector has brought great focus on initiatives for the use of cleaner, greener energy sources and to move away from polluting fossil fuel-based energy sources. Several studies & scenarios on possible future energy transition trends suggest that by 2050 contribution of fossil fuel and renewable energy sources in the primary energy mix would be about 50:50. Over 190 countries, NGO’s, and international organizations under the support of the United Nations have deliberated and suggested action plan under COP15 and COP26 for countries and companies to follow.
